That’s not a D&D character sheet…
Kinda lose any and all credibility there, especially from those of us who are just stumbling through.

lol yes I know thats not an actual D&D character sheet. But the picture as a whole fits just fine, the dice, pencil and NON D&D character sheet suggests a theme ( that being pencil and paper rpg ).
I lose credibility? Really? Did you check the links, cause those work damn fine? Are you gaining any benefit from this post at all, or will you just ignore it and have nothing to do with it because you didnt care for a picture?
Guess you’re gonna have to throw out the second picture as well, see thats actually World of Warcraft artwork.
And hell, the last 2 pics I should toss as well, they didnt really have any official D&D tie-ins either.
Sorta like saying I wont read a great novel because the book cover sucks.
I could be wrong here, but Benjamin you remind me many many years ago when I used to DM games, there was always that one kid who was a rules lawyer, always correcting everyone including the DM on what was right or wrong.
You see my friend, its all about the spirit of the game, not getting bogged down in technical minutia. Any experienced player or GM worth their salt knows that…
Hopefully this clears things up and I get back some of my “street cred” cause there is nothing worse than getting a verbal/written slap down by the hordes of D&D geeks lol …..

sorry randy, but ur wrong on this issue (not the stupid paper and pencil 1, i thought it still looked fine) HOWEVER , D&D has 100’s of books for one reason. To set rules and standards for all possible scenarios (excluding the rare occasion we do something crazy like use a tree token, cut down the tree, and surf the explosion of a dead frost worm). Its my opinion that D&D rules ARE to be followed strictly, because even the smallest error, the smallest change, can lead to devastating effects. Yes it might be annoying, and certainly everyone will just want to move on, but once a rule is memorized u dont have to refer to it again, and the game goes on the way it was made to go on.

Well innershadow you are entitled to your opinion but I say you are wrong and the creators of D&D say you are wrong. Over and over again dating back to Gary Gygax has said that being a ‘rules lawyer’ creates nothing but more time being spent arguing over and over about nuances and gray area rules.
As a long time player and DM I can attest to this. The best games are the ones in which the DM creates an engrossing tale in which the players participate and have fun in. The worst games are the ones in which everyone has the rule book(s) open and pleading their individual cases.
If trying to be exact and precise on every detailed rule possible works for you and the players, great! But I have never seen it. As you said, 100’s of rules books. That means in many cases I can find rules that overlap and/or contradict another rule. If getting bogged down in that minutia is ok for you, have at it.
RPG’s are not board games. Its interactive story telling and the best GM’s can verbally paint a picture that engrosses and captures its audience regardless of a rule.
Bottom line: Do you and your players have a good time? If the answer is yes, then you are on the right track. If the answer is no, BUT every rule has been followed to a T, then you may need to have another look at the situation.

Don’t you dare toss out the hot chicks! You know, the chained slave gal could say "horny" just as well as "porny." She does look like she enjoys her captivity.
By Randy on Feb 26, 2008 | Reply
lol agreed. I prefer both porny & horny

Rules were meant to be broken in some cases. My DM has been playing since the game first came out (that’s 30 years of experience, his 20th level 1st edition wizard converted to an 88th level wizard/5th level archmage)
When gray areas come up, we make a ruling call and go on with the dungeon. The game is infinite in it’s expanse and can always be added to. They will never have enough rulebooks to cover every possible scenario. Leave the pictures up there. Who gives a rat’s behind if they’re not “politically correct”. THIS GAME ISN’T SUPPOSED TO BE POLITICALLY CORRECT! Cripes almighty, it was banned there for a while cause they thought we were demon worshipers or somethin like that.
Oh, and i agree, it can go either way that 3rd picture, and i prefer both porny and horny. Do not toss out the hot chicks just because of one person.
Thank you for this compilation. Alot of the books that i’ve wanted and needed access to our group didn’t have (plus since i’ve started my own group as well, this site will be a great boon to us)
Keep on rollin!
