Cellfactor: Revolution 1.0
An action-packed first-person shooter that takes advantage of the dedicated AGEIA PhysX processor.
Size: 859.59MB
OS: Win 9x/ME/NT/2K/XP/2K3/Vista
CellFactor: Revolution is an action-packed first-person shooter that takes advantage of the capabilities of the dedicated AGEIA PhysX processor, but is playable even if you do not have the Physx accelator card. With only a select few games available that actually used the PhysX card, it was becoming increasingly difficult for sites like ours to recommend the purchase of the card.
We were fed GRAW, which really wasn’t all that impressive with PhysX enabled and up until today when Cell Factor is released, the only enjoyable game which is truly enhanced by the PhysX card, was a small game available on Valve’s Steam called RoboBlitz. Now we have Cell Factor and in this editor’s opinion, not a moment too soon.
The back-story isn’t exactly a new one. Not unlike most other sci-fi storylines, the world has been taken over by a mega company called LIMBO. Rather than ramble on and on, let’s get it straight from the horse’s mouth.
“After a series of cataclysmic events, the planet is now dominated by a superpower, known as the L.I.M.B.O Corporation, dedicated only to the advancement of technology – no matter what the human cost. This technology forms the basis of a cybernetic-enhanced humanoid army – the Technocracy, whose telekinetic powers are used to maintain order across the planet. A scattered human resistance fights for one last shred of freedom, tapping into psionic abilities in an attempt to conquer what appears to be an invincible enemy. The gamer can play as characters from both sides of this war.

Urban Terror 4.0
Urban Terror is a free First Person Shooter that uses the Quake 3 engine.
Size: 531.28MB
OS: Win 98/Me/2000/XP/Vista
Urban Terror is a mod turned standalone that´s on the Quake 3 engine. It features realistic gameplay, much like in Counter Strike, except for a twist: you can jump off of walls and do other crazy things like that. Also, all the weapons are available at spawn, instead of a buy system. The same applies to the equipment. Another interesting idea is instead of realistic looking skins, there are orange and blue teams. Please Note: Those of you who do not own Quake3 will need to download and install the ioUrbanTerror installer prior to installing the main 550MB file. You can get this file from the UrbanTerror website or here: http://www.gamershell.com/download_18565.shtml.
The gameplay in Urban Terror is absolutely fantastic, borderline perfect. The weapons connect when they´re supposed to connect, and not at any other time. Movement is easy to get used to.
System Requirements:
- 64 MB RAM
- 8 MB VRAM
- Around 650MB disk space
Obviously the higher your specs the smoother the gameplay.

WolfenStein Enemy Territory
Wage war as Axis or Allies in team-based combat.
Size: 270MB
OS: Windows (All) / Linux

Wolfenstein Enemy Territory is a free, stand alone, downloadable multiplayer game in which players wage war as Axis or Allies in team-based combat.
Do battle in traditional single scenarios, or wage war through a series of linked scenarios in a totally new campaign mode. During combat players gain experience and skill, and through battlefield promotions are awarded additional abilities that remain persistent across an entire campaign.
Additionally, new character classes like the Covert Ops as well as enhyanced Engineer allow teams to perform reconnaissance, steal enemy uniforms, and construct battlefield structures and military installations in the midst of combat to gain tactical advantages for their team.
All new game modes, maps and communication abilities require players and teams to develop advanced strategies and tactics in the struggle for front line domination.
MOD: TrueCombat: Elite
A team-based realism modification, based on the free and popular Enemy Territory. Download TrueCombat:Elite
Size: 550.05MB
OS: Windows (All) / Linux
TrueCombat: Elite is a fast-paced modern tactical shooter with a focus on close-quarters gunfights and objective oriented teamplay. Two teams engage each other using modern weaponry, in the objective game mode there is one defending team.
One of the most notable features, which often confuses new players, is that there is no crosshair. Instead, the gun’s iron sights are used. The gun can also be fired from a lowered position without using the iron sights, but at a loss of accuracy.
The game features two different teams, Terrorists and SpecOps (a portmanteau for “special operation forces“). There are three classes for both teams:
- Assault - Has access to assault-rifles, pistols, a semi-automatic/pump-action shotgun, and one hand grenade.
- Recon - Has access to submachine guns, suppressed submachine guns, a pump-action only shotgun, optional techkit (replacing the grenades, flash and smoke), and akimbo pistols. The fastest class, movement speed wise.
- Sniper - Has access to sniper rifles, pistols, and only a smoke grenade. Slower and less mobile due to the heavier load.
There is a total of 27 weapons in True Combat: Elite. Each team has 16 weapons to choose from, 5 weapons being selectable by both teams. The inventory of the player consists of one primary weapon (submachine gun, shotgun, assault rifle or sniper rifle), a pistol as sidearm, a knife and a class-dependent grenade load out.
You are also capable of picking up the primary weapon of a fallen friend or foe.

Alien Arena 2007
Multiplayer online deathmatch game based on the GPL id source code.
Size: 201MB
OS: Win 9x/ME/NT/2K/XP/2K3/Linux
Alien Arena 2007 is a freeware online deathmatch game with fast and furious action for Windows and Linux!
Do you like fast paced deathmatch? How about rich, colorful, arcadelike atmospheres? How about…retro Sci Fi? Then you’re going to love what Alien Arena 2007 has in store for you! This game combines some of the very best aspects of such games as Quake III and Unreal Tournament and wraps them up with a retro alien theme, while adding tons of original ideas to make the game quite unique.
AA2K7 is the latest version of a freeware online deathmatch game that was first introduced to the public in October, 2004. Since that initial release, nearly every aspect of the game has been revamped, in fact, much of the content and code from the November 2005 release of Alien Arena 2006 has been redone as well. It’s like an entirely new game, and it may shock people just how much it has improved in less than a year’s time. With 35 levels, five modes of play, loads of mutators, built-in bots, 11 player characters, 8 weapons(with alt-fire modes), the game has an endless supply of replayability. With so many new features, AA2K7 is nearly an entirely new game when held in comparison to it’s predecessor. With the trials and tribulations of software development, endless hours of playing, gathering feedback, COR Entertainment has been able to not only fine tune and perfect it’s flagship game, but add completely new dimensions to it.
Using the CRX engine, which is based on the Id GPL source code, AA2K7 now includes modern effects such as real time vertex lighting and shadows, lensflares, light blooms, reflective water, textured particles, stainmaps, 32 bit color, shaders, fog, and much more. Built into the game is a easy to use server browser which allows the user to query information about each server. A Q3 style console has been added, as well as colored player names, winner podiums, and weapons stats. The best thing about the CRX engine however, is it’s netcode and speed. Even on a modest system, you will get excellent framerates, and movement is still extremely smooth and fast, even on high ping servers.
Bot AI has been improved with each release, and for AA2K7, a number of improvements and enhancements have been made. These bots are among the most human acting bots in any game, and also some of the toughest if you choose them to be. They are fully configurable using an external editor, and skill levels can be set in game.
Alien Arena is a fast paced, furious frag fest with arenas ranging from the small, to the massive. With a large built-in player base, it’s never hard to find a good match going on, at any hour of the day. The community is friendly, as well as prolific. Dozens of maps, models, and various accessories have been created by community members to add on to the game experience.
New for AA2K7 is Team Core Assualtl, a mode in which players must work together to disable their enemy team’s central metal spider. Don’t forget about the Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Deathball, and All Out Assault mode(in which players can enter vehicles) either.
What are you waiting for? Find out why this is being called “The Ultimate Freeware Deathmatch Game”!
SINGLE PLAYER CODERED GAMES
For those who like the single player experience, COR offers two single player games, CodeRED: Battle For Earth and CodeRED: The Martian Chronicles. *Note - these games are very old, and use a much older version of the CRX engine, and are no longer in development.
In BFE, you play a URF soldier, Commander Joseph Hicks, who has learned that his commanding officer, General Braddock, has betrayed the URF and is working with alien invaders to take over planet Earth. Entering a devasted post-apocolyptic world, you do your best to fend of the invasion of the maniacle Martians and their contraptions of death. In time, you come to realize that the URF has secrets of it’s own, and that you are all alone…
The Martian Chronicles picks up some years later. Now a decorated officer for your efforts on Earth, you have been sent to Mars to investigate the disappearance of combat troops. It appears a new leader has assumed control, codenamed “Big Brain”, and is massing a new army. Your mission is to find him, and put a stop to his plans. Along the way, you’ll see incredible Martian facilities and landscapes, and horrors that you could have never imagined.

.kkrieger
The entire game uses only 97,280 bytes of disk space.
Size: 97,280 bytes
OS: Windows (All)
.kkrieger (from Krieger, German for warrior) is a first-person shooter computer game created by the German demogroup .theprodukkt (a former subdivision of Farbrausch) and won first place in the 96k game competition at Breakpoint in April 2004. The game remains a beta version as of 2007.
The entire game uses only 97,280 bytes of disk space. Much of this small size is attributable to the game’s use of procedurally generated content. In contrast, most popular first-person shooters fill one or more CDs or DVDs. [1] According to the developers, .kkrieger itself would take up around 200—300MB of space if it had been stored the conventional way.
